Network Marketing For the Internet Age

Do you think Network Marketing is a pyramid scam? Are you like the majority of the population, tired and fed up by the cult con artists who prey on the naive and continue to trick people into attending high pressure sales meetings? Good news! There are now ways to evaluate companies and products that will make our job of finding legitimate companies a cinch. Furthermore, the new techniques used on the Internet make our job of finding interested customers and representatives very structured and systematic.

I shudder every time I get an email from a friend stating; "I finally found a company that works."

I understand that most of the time people are simply following a scripted "system" that is supposed to "do the work for you", but come on... really? Do you really believe that the system is going to do the work for you? If it really did the work for you, then why does it need you?

I really do believe that the industry of Network Marketing is turning a corner. It is becoming a realistic way to earn extra income from home for anyone who really works at it. I suppose "technically" it has always been a way to earn extra income from home since there are people who have made money... In fact, there are people who have made A LOT of income in Network Marketing. However, most of those who actually made big money are very shrewd business people.

Let me let you in on some very privileged information.

The old giants in the industry of Network Marketing built their teams in a much different era. There were no computers. Everything was done literally, face-to-face. In time it would move mostly onto the phone, but it was still very hands on. As you can imagine there are many skills that you need in order to be successful (think advances sales skills). I mean... After all, you are not even really selling a product. You are selling an idea. A way for people to earn income that they do not understand and are told that they do not need to understand it. It is no wonder the success rate is so low. Due to the fact that so few people are able to succeed, those who know what they are doing, know that they need A LOT of people to be purchasing their product on a monthly basis. They also know that these customers rarely care about the product because all they really want is to earn money. They need a way to keep people interested.

In comes the "company culture"... I definitely do not think it is a coincidence that the word "cult" is in culture. I definitely think that companies like Amway/Quixtar and many others have a religious and cult like nature. They preach that they have found "the way out" and that anyone who is not involved in their "way of life" is either stupid or uninformed. They certainly spread the word enthusiastically, which has definitely given them a bad name. The worst sin is that they worked to make people believe that eventually their business would take off and all they needed to do was have faith and DO NOT QUIT. (ie: stay on autoship and continue buying their training material)

Ok... That is my rant about the old days of Network Marketing.

Luckily, things are changing.

Today we have the Internet. We can literally use scripts and structured tasks in order to capture interest and present our products and business. Of course, there IS work. It is STILL not as easy as just blasting out a bunch of spam and waiting for the money to roll. You need to have decent writing skills and you have to have an entrepreneurial mindset. However, you can make it work if you are willing to learn some new skills and that you implement them.

The best thing is that you can build any company you want! All you need to do is develop a plan and work the plan!

If you already have a business here are a few tips to help get you started;

Do some market research on your products and find one that has little online competition but has the most buzz. Another thing to think about it is to think of a different angle than the one the company is already using. Better yet, try a more specific use of the product. For example, if your product is a weight loss product, then focus on a niche like... "Losing weight for a wedding", of if it is a nutritional product, see if you can pick a specific problem that your product addresses like allergies or asthma.

If you do not have a business;

While you are evaluating companies, be sure to do some market research on the entire product line of the company. The more niches you can find, the better. You can then market your product using different angles and improve your page rank by linking all the pages together. You also get the benefit of better commissions than if you were promoting products from different companies, since you are more likely to hit volume bonuses.

Consider this a crash course to get you started in Network Marketing for the Internet Age
